Wal-Vortrag an der Waldschule Lüstringen // Visit at an elementary school to talk about 🐋

🧒📚 Wale in der Grundschule? Unbedingt! 🐋✨

Diese Woche hatte ich wieder die schöne Gelegenheit, einen Vortrag an einer Grundschule zu halten – diesmal an der Waldschule Osnabrück. Thema: Wale! 🌍💙

Von den vom Aussterben bedrohten Schweinswalen in der Ostsee 🐬 bis zu den majestätischen Buckelwalen in der Antarktis ❄️ – wir sind einmal quer durch die Weltmeere gereist.
Dabei haben wir auch mit Mythen aufgeräumt: ❌🛶 Warum Wale keine Kajakfahrer verschlucken können – auch wenn dramatische Fotos regelmäßig durch die Medien geistern (Spoiler: da steckt meist etwas ganz anderes dahinter 📸😉).

Natürlich ging es auch um die Bedrohungen durch uns Menschen – und darum, wie jeder von uns mit kleinen Schritten dazu beitragen kann, unsere Meere und ihre faszinierenden Bewohner zu schützen. 🌱🌊

Und wer weiß: Vielleicht saßen unter den neugierigen Kinderaugen ja schon ein paar zukünftige Meeresbiolog*innen! 🔬🐳

🧒📚 Whales in elementary school? Absolutely! 🐋✨

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of giving another school talk – this time at Waldschule Lüstringen. The topic: whales! 🌍💙

From the endangered harbour porpoises in the Baltic Sea 🐬 to the majestic humpback whales of Antarctica ❄️ – we took a journey across the world’s oceans.
And we tackled a few myths along the way: ❌🛶 Why whales can’t swallow kayakers – even though dramatic photos keep popping up in the media (spoiler: there’s usually a very different story behind them 📸😉).

Of course, we also talked about the threats these incredible animals face due to human activity, and how each of us can make small changes to help protect the ocean and its amazing inhabitants. 🌱🌊

And who knows – maybe a few future marine biologists were sitting right there among those curious young minds! 🔬🐳
